Algebra Readiness: Math 8C

Instructor: Mrs. Livingston

The Algebra Readiness MS course lays the foundation for success in Algebra. It revisits thirteen standards from previous years and introduces three new algebra standards. Students will be prepared to succeed in Algebra Explorations in high school. This course is not a repeat of the pre-algebra course, but rather a unique blend of key concepts needed for success in future math courses.

We will be using the Prentice Hall California Algebra Readiness curriculum with both text and digital media support.

Make sure your homework has the appropriate heading:

Make sure to:

copy the problem
show your work neatly
clearly identify your answer

Word Problems:

If there are less than three sentences, you must copy the problem.

Three sentences or more require that you summarize the problem (what is the problem asking you to do) and include key information.

Required Materials

All students are required to have the following materials with them everytime Math class meets:
•a three-ring binder (with tabs to separate classes),
•a graph paper or regular notebook in which to to take notes (to be used only for Math),
•two sharpened pencils with good erasers,
•black/blue pen is optional (no other colors are acceptable)
•an independent reading book
•an assignment book or planner/agenda book (will be provided by the school)

Helpful, but not required:
individual pencil sharpener, ruler, school scissors, protractor, compass
